Finland is famous
for its technology. Not mentioning those famous multinationals
in the fields of papermaking and telecommunication, Finnish
SMEs are also technically advanced in the fields of electronics,
mechanics and machinery, which complements the needs of
the Chinese SMEs. As an enormous rising market, China
is a source of attraction to Finnish companies. To strengthen
trade, technical and economic cooperation between SMEs
in the two countries and in line with the agreement reached
between the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and
its Finnish counterpart, MOFCOM decided to restart the
Working Group on China-Finland SME under the Mixed Commission
on Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation
(hereafter referred to as "the Working Group") in July
2003.
MOFCOM, department of European
Affairs is responsible for the overall guidance and monitoring
the implementation of cooperative projects. MOFCOM appointed
China International Centre for Economic and Technical
Exchanges (hereafter referred to as "CICETE")
as the leading agency for the Working Group, taking care
of daily work. Mr. Wang Yue, head of CICETE serves as
the Chairman of the Working Group for the Chinese side.
Members of the Working Group will participate in the activities
relevant to their work. The Working Group organizes National
Coordinated Meetings as seen needed.
For
the Finnish side, Ministry of Trade and Industry is
responsible for overall guidance. The leading agency
is Finland Trade Promotion Association. Chairman is
Mr. Antti Peltoniemi, member of Finland Central Coalition
for Industry and Employers, SME Committee and General
Manager of Seicon Construction Company.
Under
the leadership of MOFCOM, the Working Group will serve
as the platform for information sharing between Chinese
and Finnish SME and build a bridge between them to promote
exports of Chinese SMEs and to encourage more Finnish
SMEs to invest in China, thus to push forward the win-win
economic cooperation and trade between the two countries.
