Seminar on Basic Research Findings for ^Employment Promotion and Rights Protection for Migrant Women Workers in Beijing Project ̄ Held in Beijing .

 

The Seminar on Basic Research Findings for Employment Promotion and Rights Protection for Migrant Women Workers in Beijing Project was held in Beijing on May 16 th , 2007, attended by over 70 representatives from government sectors, NGOs, research institutes, international organizations, media, local migrant women workers and their employers. Three analysis reports, compiled by the experts under the project, were presented and discussed at the seminar, namely the Research Report on Basic Condition of Migrant Women Workers in Beijing , the Analysis on Influence of Policies and System and the Analysis on the Environmental Influence to Migrant Women Workers. At the seminar, the participants positively recognized the contents of the reports and the way being conducted, and put forward with constructive suggestions on how to effectively help migrant women workers. Mr. Zhao Zhongyi, the Deputy Director-General of CICETE, attended the seminar and delivered a speech. He pointed out that it needed to improve the employment situation and safeguard rights of migrant women workers through joint efforts from various circles. Meanwhile, he also called on all walks of life to make contribution to a harmonious society by giving their concerns to the living conditions of migrant women workers and providing supports for their better career development. The porgramme officers from Division I, Division III of CICETE as well as CANGO attended the meeting.

The Employment Promotion and Rights Protection for Migrant Women Workers Project was officially launched in March 2006, sponsored by European Commission (EU), being implemented by CANGO and CICETE. The objectives of the project are to improve the employment environment and protect the rights for migrant workers especially female workers. The project is also designed to provide necessary supports and trainings to NGOs serving for migrant workers.
