With the supports from China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges (CICETE), Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Zhejiang Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau, China Association for Promoting UN Procurement (CAPUNP) successfully organized United Nations Procurement Service Orientation respectively in Beijing and Hangzhou on 5 th and 7 th December, 2006. About 160 representatives from Chinese Suppliers attended the Orientation either in Beijing or in Hangzhou .
Located in New York , United Nations Procurement Service (UNPS) is mainly in charge of goods and services procurement for UN Headquarters and UN Peace Keeping Missions. The major items of goods procured by UNPS are Food, Pharmaceutical Supplies, Vehicles, Computers and Software, Shelter and Housing, Telecommunications Equipment, and Building Materials, and services are Security Services, outsourced Personnel Services, Engineering Services, Construction, Corporate Services, Printing Services and Equipment Rental, Consultancy Services, and Telecommunication Services. In 2005, UNPS procured total of 1.6 billion in US dollars goods and services for UN headquarters and peace keeping missions.
Mr. Dmitri Dovgopoly, Chief of Field Procurement Section, Procurement Service and Ms. Huang Yanrui, procurement officer from Procurement Division gave presentations on how to do business with UNPS and had a deep discussion with Chinese suppliers after the presentations.
Mr. Dong Hong, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of China Association for Promoting UN Procurement (CAPUNP) attended the orientations and gave a brief introduction on UN procurement in China .
