IThe Seminar on International Economic & Technical Cooperation for Government Officials of African Countries was successfully held by the China International Center for Economic & Technical Exchanges (CICETE) during June 7-21, 2006. Twenty-four government officials from foreign and economic departments of seventeen African countries attended the Seminar. All of them were division chiefs, director-generals and administrators. Some well-known scholars, professors and government officials from the National Development and Reform commission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, China People's University and CICETE had been invited to deliver lectures and presentations to the African participants while they were in Beijing. And they went to Xiamen to visit Xiamen Export Processing Zone and some large enterprises such as CIMC Zhangzhou Container Co. Ltd, Xiahua Electronic Co.Ltd and Kinglong Motor-coach Co.Ltd. Having achieved the expected goals and a great success, the Seminar was unanimously praised by the African participants. The success of the Seminar contributes to deepening the mutual understanding between China and African nations as well as increasing China's international influences.
