I2006 China Banking Association-Citigroup Micro-entrepreneurship Awards, abbreviated for CMA below, has been launched on June 11th, 2006. It is organized by China Banking Association, sponsored by Citigroup Foundation and executed by CICETE. It is initiated based on "2005 Global Micro-entrepreneurship Awards ", which is sponsored by Citigroup Foundation as one of the commemorative activities of 2005 International Year of Microcredit. The objective of the 2006 CMA program is to illustrate and promote the effective role that microfinance plays in poverty alleviation in China.

The implementation of CMA this year will follow the principle of representation and universality. Rural Credit Cooperatives, Microfinance Institutions for urban Laid-off workers, GO and NGO style Microfinance Institutions will be invited to commend their best loan officers and best clients to participate in the selection. Ten awards are set by CMA. The number of the award for best clients and best loan officers is 110, and that for best Microfinance institutions is 11. The final list of the award will be elected by the Selection Committee, and will be announced at the celebration for CMA in Octobe
