The 27th session of the UNIDO Industrial Development
Board (IDB) was held in Vienna from August 26th to 28th. Representatives
from member countries, UN agencies, and other international and
non-government organizations participated in the meeting. The Chinese
delegation was led by Mr. Zhang Yan, China's ambassador to the United
Nations and Other International Organizations in Vienna, and Mr.
Wang Yue, deputy director-general of the China International Centre
for Economic and Technical Exchanges. Ministers from Burkina Faso,
Cote D Ivoire, Gana and Sri Lanka were present in the meeting. During
the Board session, the Chinese delegation consulted with the UNIDO
concerning the preparation of the Bio-tech Asia-pacific Regional
Meeting to be held in Chengdu from December 15th to 19th and a basic
agreement was reached.
