International Workshop on Basic Public Service Benefiting 1.3 Billion People was held in Haikou City on Feb 23-24, 2008. The workshop was supported by the project Land Policy, Rural Governance and Public Service Reform for R evitalization of Chinese Rural Areas cooperated by UNDP, CICETE and China (Hainan) Reform Development Institute. Mr. Wang Yue, Director General of CICETE attended the workshop and addressed the opening ceremony. During the workshop, he chaired the Panel III—Objectives and missions on promoting the equalization of basic public serve. Mr. Khalid Malik, Resident Represent of UNDP China was present at the workshop. Foreign and domestic experts, policy researchers and government officials were invited to participate in the workshop to discuss thoroughly on expediting the process of the realization of basic public service in China .

During the workshop, Mr. Luo Baoming, Governor of Hainan Province met cordially Mr. Wang Yue, Mr. Khalid Malik and other people.
