The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture jointly with UNDP China is currently recruiting project staff and local experts for the ˇ°Conservation and Sustainable Utilization of Wild Relatives of Crops in China ˇ± project.
Project Context
China is one of the seven independent centres of crop origin in the world. In order to learn from best practices abroad and promote intenational cooperation, the Chinese Ministroy of Abgriculture (herafter the MOA), in collaboration with UNDP, developed and applied to the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) a project entitled ˇ°Conservation and Sustainable Utilization of Wild Relatives of Crops in Chinaˇ±.
The Project is funded by GEF, implemented by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and under National Execution by the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA, a project management office will be established under the Department of Science, Technology and Education of MOA to take charge of the routine management of the project).
The project will execute a combination of actions aimed at establishing sustainable sources of financial and other incentives for conservation, modification to the legal framework, enhancement of capacity building (including technical mornitering capacity)and awareness rising to address threats and root causes to the conservation of wild relatives of crops and promote integration of conservation and production, thus ensuring the sustainablity of the conservation in China.
In May 2007, the project was countersigned by the Ministry of Finance (MOF, the focal point of GEF project in China ), the MOA and the UNDP. The Project was formally launched in December 2007 and is scheduled to last for six years.
This vacancy announcement for project staff and experts forms a part of the implementation of the Project.

The vacancy posts include
Chief Technical Adviser (CTA) (CWRC- 1011, six months for the first year)
The posts will be stationed at the PMO in Beijing with in/out-country travel as required .
