Mr. Yi Xiaozhun, Vice Minister of Commerce met with Mr. Ad de Raad, Executive Coordinator of the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) in the afternoon of 24 July 2007,. Mr. Wang Yue, Director-General and Mr. Dong Hong, Deputy Director-General of CICETE took their presence at the meeting.

During the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of closer cooperation between China and UNV. Vice Minister Yi Xiaozhun pointed out that the dispatchment of China's high-level technical experts should be strengthened through UNV mechanism and the collaboration with UNV be further strengthened in the future. In this field, CICETE could play more important roles in personnel selection, recommendation and fielding. Meanwhile, UNV could provide international best experiences and technical supports on the programme "Strengthening Volunteerism for Development in China through the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games", and China's development of volunteerism.

Mr. Ad de Raad briefly introduced the current operation of UNV and its cooperative channel of UNV fielding work and hoped that more outstanding Chinese volunteers with advanced technical skills could be sent abroad and contribute to the world peace and development.
