International Forum on Green Development held in Xinjiang

8 June, 2010 Urumqi – CICETE Deputy Director General WANG Weili attended Green Development International Forum and delivered opening remarks on behalf of CICETE. The forum, hosted by United Nations Development Programmme (UNDP), CICETE and Poverty Alleviation Office of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is an important event under UNDP China Green Development Program, aiming to enhance China’s capacity in adapting climate change, explore new channels to develop a green and low carbon economy, and discuss the opportunities and challenges faced by China in rural development as well.

Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Vice Chairman Mr. QIAN Zhi and UNDP Country Director Mr. Subiny Nandy also attended the Forum and delivered opening remarks. In addition, the representatives of related government departments, academic institutions, and enterprises in Xinjiang as well as the representatives from GD program, overseas institutions and NGOs attended the forum. And some experts and scholars domestic and abroad in climate change and agriculture as well as the representatives from national enterprises and under GD program made speeches on related topics during the meeting.
