Deputy Director General Zhao Zhongyi Attends International Forum on Voluntary Service Development through Beijing Olympic Games and Guangzhou Asian Games

22 July 2010, Beijing - Volunteer China, Harmonious Asia- International Forum on Voluntary Service Development through the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games was held at National Conference Center in Beijing. Zhao Zhongyi, Deputy Director General of CICETE attended the Opening Ceremony and delivered a speech. The opening ceremony was chaired by Deng Yaping, Deputy Secretary General of Beijing Youth League.  Silvia Morimoto, Deputy Country Director of UNDP China, Wang Shaofeng, Secretary General of Beijing Youth League, Zeng Yingru, Deputy Secretary General of Guangdong Youth League, Wang Huanqing, Secretary General of Guangzhou Youth League, as well as Guo Ping, Deputy Director of Volunteer Department, China Central Youth League were all present at the ceremony. Besides, representatives of international organizations, NGOs, local and international consultants, volunteer managers and media were also invited to attend the forum.

The forum included a series of activities and lasted for four days, one day’s forum in Beijing and the other three days for international camp in Guangzhou. This international forum, which was of great significance, has built a bridge between Beijing and Guangzhou, Olympic Games and Asian Games. It provided a good platform for sharing experience in the field of voluntary service. It was an important output of Olympic legacy transfer and big result of UN Volunteering Service Cooperation Program, as well as a great contribution to the voluntary service development home and abroad.
